Season 2 of courtroom drama series ‘The Trial: Pyaar Kaanoon Dhokha’ was confirmed by the makers as well as the streaming platform in 2024. Now, more details about the second season have been announced, highlights being the streaming date and what one can expect from the new season. JioHotstar shared a video of actress Kajol announcing the return of the show this year. The filming for the second season began in October 2024, and it is now ready to hit the streamer soon. It is an Indian adaptation of the American Series, The Good Wife, starring Julianna Margulies in the lead role.

The Trial Season 2: Release Date & Platform

The Trial Season 2 will stream on JioHotstar OTT Platform from 19th September 2025. The announcement was done via a hilarious video starring Kajol, which confirmed that season 2 will pick up from where season 1 ended.

The Trial Season 2: Cast & Crew

Kajol will be back as Noyonika Sen Gupta along with Karanvir Sharma, Kubbra Sait, Alyy Khan, Sonali Kulkarni, Sheeba Chadha, Jisshu Sengupta, and Gaurav Pandey in lead roles. It is produced by Banijay Asia and Umesh Bisht, and direction is being handled by Suparn Verma.

The Trial Season 2: Expected Plot

The plot has been kept under wraps, but the second season promises to be even more intense as Nayonika will try to reestablish her legal career, taking on the hardships head-on while seeking justice for her clients and her husband. It might have eight episodes similar to season one.

The story revolved around Noyonika Sengupta, a stay-at-home mother and law school graduate who had given up her career to prioritize her family. After a decade, when her husband Rajiv is accused of corruption and involvement in a sex scandal, she has no option but to get back to work to support her family.

The Trial Season 2: Kajol Speaks

The Trial is Kajol’s first web series, and she is excited to be back with season 2. The actress said, “Professionally, it has been an incredibly enriching year for me- I’ve had the chance to explore a range of characters and stories, and among them, Noyonika remains especially close to my heart. From being an underdog in the first season to having found her footing in the cut-throat legal world, I’ve loved stepping back into her shoes. I genuinely can’t wait for all of you to experience what we’ve created this season. It’s been a labour of love.”
