Messaging app WhatsApp is planning to introduce a host of new features in the year 2022. Last year, WhatsApp came up with features like voice and video calling on desktop, disappearing photos and videos, and others which were helpful to some and not so much to others.

Now, in 2022 WhatsApp is planning to carry this trend forward and pop up some more unique features to make users’ lives easier. Here are the top 6 features that are expected to be rolled out by WhatsApp in 2022-

This can be a nice addition wherein the profile photos will be displayed in iOS system notifications when the user receives new messages from chats and groups. This has already been released to some beta testers only on iOS 15 for now and soon it will be available for others as well.

2. WhatsApp edit recipients on sharing media

The messaging app is planning to redesign the interface that informs who you are sending the media to as well as allow users to select new recipients before sharing their media. It will also allow users to upload the media to their status, while sending the image, video, GIF to a WhatsApp chat.

3. Hide WhatsApp last seen from select contacts

Currently, WhatsApp can hide last seen from all their contacts but doesn’t allow users to choose specific contacts to hide last seen from. Thus, WhatsApp is planning to enhance this feature by allowing the users to select a specific person/persons from whom they want to hide the last seen while other contacts will be visible to them.

4. WhatsApp Logout

It is one of the most awaited features that might be rolled out this year along with a multi-device feature. This feature will let the users log out of WhatsApp accounts from their devices similar to other social networking apps like Facebook and Instagram.

5. WhatsApp Message reactions

This will enable users to redact WhatsApp messages with emojis similar to that of other social networking sites such as Facebook and Instagram. It is named a message reaction and will allow users to react to a message using 6 emojis initially.

WhatsApp groups will become even bigger by allowing users to club up to 10 chat groups under one community, just like Discord. Its only limitation is that it will be accessible only to admins through which messages can be sent to all the groups in the community.
