The Chinese consumer tech brand vivo has launched a new mid-range smartphone in India. Dubbed the vivo Y300 Plus 5G, the smartphone features a bright AMOLED screen, a relatively old yet capable Snapdragon chipset, and a 5,000 mAh battery that supports fast wired charging. Launched in two colors, the smartphone is available on the company’s official website at Rs. 23,999.

Vivo Y300 Plus Design, Colors, And IP Rating

The vivo Y300 Plus 5G features a contemporary design, with a punch-hole display on the front with curved screen edges. On the back, the phone sports a rectangular camera module that houses the camera sensors and an LED flash.
The handset is available in two colors: Silk Black and Silk Green, and carries an official IP54 dust and water resistance rating. Regarding dimensions, the vivo Y300 Plus 5G measures 164.42 × 74.92 × 07.49 mm (or 7.57 mm for the Silk Green finish). The weight also varies between the finishes: 172 grams for the black variant and 183 grams for the green variant.
Vivo Y300 Plus 5G Features Qualcomm Snapdragon 695 SoC

Out of the box, the vivo Y300 Plus 5G sports a 6.78-inch 3D curved AMOLED screen (2400 x 1800 pixels) that supports a refresh rate 120Hz and a peak brightness of 1,300 nits. While the curved edges result in minimal bezels on the sides, the phone still has a broader top and bottom chin. Thanks to the AMOLED screen, vivo has managed to equip the phone with an in-display fingerprint sensor.
Under the hood, the phone features a relatively old Snapdragon 695 (6nm) SoC, which features two high-performance cores clocked at 2.2GHz and six efficient cores clocked at 1.8GHz. vivo could have gone with Qualcomm’s latest iteration, the Snapdragon 6s Gen 3.

Nonetheless, the phone is available in one configuration: 8GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 128GB of UFS 2.2 storage. Users can also extend the RAM virtually to 16GB, which should help during heavy workloads. While the smartphone ships with Funtouch OS 14, vivo hasn’t clarified the number of software upgrades it will receive. Meanwhile, the company just announced Funtouch OS 15 with new features.

The primary camera on the vivo Y300 Plus 5G is a 50MP (f/1.8) sensor, while the secondary camera is a 2MP (f/2.4) depth sensor. On the front, users get a 32MP (f/2.4) selfie shooter.

The phone offers multiple features, such as Wedding Style Portrait mode, Bokeh Flare Portrait mode, Micro Movie for creating videos with templates and editing tools, and Dual-View Experience for capturing videos simultaneously from the front and the rear cameras. Users also get advanced features like AI Photo Enhancer and AI Erase.
The vivo Y300 Plus 5G draws its power from a 5,000 mAh battery that supports 44W fast wired charging. The high-density battery is rated to retain over 80% of its maximum charge-holding capacity after 1600 charge cycles, contributing to the handset’s longevity. Connectivity options on the smartphone include 5G, dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth v5.1, a USB-C port, GPS, and OTG.
