WhatsApp has made its place in the industry as one of the most popular instant messaging applications of all time. In a recent development, it has been revealed that in the next update of WhatsApp, we will get to see animated emojis for a better user experience. In a report shared by Wabetainfo, WhatsApp is prepping up to soon roll out animated emojis features to skyrocket the messaging experience on the platform. It is also being said that animated emojis will help users communicate in a better way. The animated emojis are being developed with the help of lottie, which is a library used by designers to create animations.

The feature is being developed and could soon pop up on the beta version of WhatsApp desktop version along with the smartphone applications. The update will let the users send and receive animated emojis like stickers. It has been revealed that the WhatsApp animations will be small in size. Nonetheless, the users will be able to make changes to the size of the animated stickers without affecting the quality.

Apart from that, it is also being said that WhatsApp is also working on releasing a redesigned keyboard for Android smartphones. Expectations are that the feature will be available in the upcoming updates of the beta WhatsApp version. The report by Wabetsinfo suggested that WhatsApp will renew the keyboard, move the selection bar from the bottom to the top, and remove the category bar. The report also says that WhatsApp might remove the bar that lets users access different types of emojis.

This change will complicate the usage of emojis on WhatsApp. Reports also suggest that WhatsApp will also end the support for Android operating systems below 5.0 due to compatibility issues. Speculations are that the support will be ended for all the Android versions below 5.0, with future updates that will be rolled out in 2023.
