The Chinese smartphone manufacturer Xiaomi has announced the launch date of the Mix Fold 4. The phone will debut in the company’s native market this week. Posting a few pictures of the phone on the microblogging platform Weibo, the brand revealed the launch date alongside some key specifications. For those catching up, the Mix Fold 4 is going to be a very important model for Xiaomi now that Samsung has launched the latest generation of its book-style foldable, the Galaxy Z Fold6.

Xiaomi Mix Fold 4 Launch Date (For China)
According to an official post on Weibo, the Mix Fold 4 will go official on July 19, 2024, at 07:00 PM local time or 04:30 PM IST. The posters published alongside the launch date confirm that the phone will come in two finishes: white and blue. While the Mix Fold 3 came with a thickness of 11.2mm, the Fold 4 will raise the bar even higher by measuring just 9.47mm thick (when folded).

Other key features of the smartphone include a quad-camera setup developed in partnership with Leica, with one periscope lens and one telephoto lens, and a 5,000 mAh battery (expected) that supports 50W wireless charging. Unlike its competitors like the Z Fold6, the Mix Fold 6 will ship with a carbon body with a T800H carbon fiber hinge. While the company claims the material increases the hinge’s strength by up to 300%, more details will only surface once the device is released.

The carbon fiber body also carries an IPX8 water resistance rating, which seems like a missed opportunity, given that the latest Galaxy Z Fold6 features an improved IP48 dust and water resistance rating. Nonetheless, the book-style foldable will weigh 226 grams, which should make it easier to hold and maneuver. Interestingly, the smartphone is also said to ship with two-way satellite communication.
Although the company hasn’t confirmed the chipset for the Mix Fold 4, we believe it will be the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC, which powers most Android flagships released in 2024.
