Yamaha EC-06 Electric Scooter Launched in India at ₹1.67 Lakh: Range, Specs, and Availability

Yamaha has launched its first electric scooter in India: the EC-06. Currently, it is available in only a few states, with a starting price of Rs. 1,67,600 (ex-showroom). The new electric scooter has a claimed range of 169 kilometers and a top speed of 79 km/h.

Yamaha’s latest electric scooter features a 4 kWh battery pack (fixed) paired with a motor that produces 9 PS of peak power and 26 Nm of peak torque. The electric scooter takes about 8 hours to charge from 0% to 80%, and about 10 hours for a full recharge.

While the battery is IP67 dust- and water-resistant, the other electronics are IP65-rated. As mentioned earlier, the powertrain provides up to 169 kilometers of claimed range (IDC) and a top speed of 79 km/h.

Yamaha has also provided a Combi Brake System (CBS) with 200mm disc brakes at both ends, telescopic front forks, and a rear monoshock/coil spring setup.

The EC-06 features 14-inch alloy wheels on the front and rear, along with a 24.5 liters storage under the seat. Buyers will also get a three-year or 30,000 km warranty on the battery.

With powetrain offers three driving modes: Eco, Standard, and Power, along with a dedicated reverse mode. It also features all-LED lighting, including the vertically stacked twin-pod LED headlight and the taillight.

You also get a color LCD instrument cluster that offers Bluetooth connectivity (via the Yamaha Motor Connect R smartphone application), a flat floorboard, keyless ignition, a single-piece seat, and a Type-C USB charging port.

The EC-06 is available in Maharashtra (Mumbai and Pune), Karnataka (Bangalore), and Tamil Nadu (Chennai), via the company’s premium Blue Square dealerships. Clearly, the company is going with a phased launch. Expansion to other cities should follow soon.

As mentioned earlier, it is available from an ex-showroom price of Rs. 1.68 lakhs in Maharashtra.
