OnePlus is gearing up for the highly anticipated launch of the OnePlus Open in India, scheduled for October 19. The company is all set to unveil its first foldable smartphone in an exclusive event to be held in Mumbai. Notably, the OnePlus Open shares several features with the OPPO Find N3, including a significantly smaller hinge and a reduced number of hinge components.

The OnePlus Open is shrouded in excitement, and ahead of the official launch, YouTuber Michael Fisher has provided an exclusive first look at the device’s design, hinge mechanism, and key features in a recently uploaded video.

Punch-Hole Display and Iconic Alert Slider

The video by Michael Fisher reveals that the OnePlus Open will boast a punch-hole display, positioned at the top right corner, accommodating a selfie camera. Fans of OnePlus will be pleased to note the presence of the iconic alert slider on the left side of the device. Meanwhile, the power and volume buttons will be conveniently located on the right edge. At the bottom of the handset, users can expect to find a microphone, a speaker grille, and a USB Type-C port for connectivity.

Revamped Hinge Design for Lightness and Durability

One of the standout features of the OnePlus Open is its hinge mechanism. In comparison to the OPPO Find N2’s hinge, which utilized 100 components, the OnePlus Open’s hinge has been streamlined to utilize just 69 components, resulting in a lighter overall design. Additionally, OnePlus has adopted a lighter-weight alloy for the hinge material, further contributing to a reduced weight. Moreover, the hinge has been coated with exposed adhesive, enhancing its resilience against dust and water. To ensure durability, the device has undergone rigorous tests, including twisting and dropping assessments.

Specs and Key Features Await Official Confirmation

While the video preview offers an exciting glimpse into the OnePlus Open’s design and hinge, no specific technical specifications are disclosed. However, past leaks indicate that the OnePlus Open is expected to feature a 7.8-inch AMOLED display with a remarkable 120Hz refresh rate. The external display, measuring 6.3 inches, is also rumored to offer a 120Hz refresh rate. The device is likely to be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC and may offer up to 16GB of RAM along with a capacious 1TB of internal storage. Additionally, OnePlus fans can anticipate an impressive camera setup, including a 48MP primary camera, 48MP ultrawide lens, a 64MP telephoto camera with 3X optical zoom, and high-resolution selfie cameras. The OnePlus Open is expected to be powered by a 4,805mAh battery and support 100W fast charging.
