Apple is prepping up for the next slot of launches in the coming months. Turns out two iPad Air models are currently being developed and one of them is likely a giant 12.9” version to debut alongside an updated iPad mini.
12.9-inch iPad Air rumors
According to a previous report, Apple was caught working on two iPads bearing identifiers J537 and J538. These two devices belong to the Apple iPad Air series. A larger iPad Air was already speculated to launch. Adding onto the same, the recent report by DigiTimes mentions that a 12.9-inch iPad Air is on the roadmap powered by LCD instead of mini-LED under the hood. The report does mention anonymous industry sources.
Given the credibility of previous leaks by DigiTimes, we are hoping that a 12.9-inch LCD iPad Air is probably in the supply chain pipeline. At the moment, there’s no device with a 12.9” LCD panel on Apple’s catalog and the one available uses a mini-LED (iPad Pro) that will soon switch to OLED sometime in early 2024.
A larger 12.9-inch iPad Air would give customers a larger screen real estate than the current-gen 10.9-inch without paying an extrinsic amount on a $1,099 12.9-inch iPad Pro.
Circling back to the two iPad Airs in the works, one could be a 12.9” iPad Air while another could be an 11”. More details about both the iPad Air will be available in the coming months so sit tight as we scour the web to find such interesting bits.
