TL; DR
  • Apple’s “clear” case for the iPhone 17 Pro has a frosted white panel on the back.
  • The MagSafe ring no longer aligns with the logo, which explains the opaque shading in the case.
  • Third-party UAG cases confirm an elongated horizontal camera bar and varied designs across iPhone 17 models.

Fresh leaks on Twitter (X) have given us an early look at the iPhone 17 Pro’s official accessories, and Apple’s so-called clear case is sparking some debate. Unlike previous fully transparent versions, this case comes with a large frosted white section across the back, leaving only the frame and the camera module part transparent.

Photos of the case’s retail packaging show it labeled as “iPhone 17 Pro Clear Case” with MagSafe and Camera Control support. The opaque middle portion seems intentional, covering the Apple logo and MagSafe coil area. Early reactions haven’t been kind, and Apple is likely hide the misaligned design of the MagSafe and the Apple logo.

A leaked hands-on clip reveals the semi-transparent finish in detail, and confirms that the Apple logo is indeed going to be misaligned. Instead of redesigning the coil, the fix appears to be covering the area with an opaque overlay.

Case cutouts also hint at the iPhone 17 Pro’s new hardware layout, including a horizontal camera bar across the top, ditching the square bump seen since the iPhone 11 Pro. The look draws parallels to Google’s Pixel lineup, marking a visual shift for Apple’s flagship.

Third-party UAG cases of the entire lineup have also been leaked, shared by Evan on Twitter (X). While the iPhone 17 and 17 Air have a fairly normal looking design for the MagSafe, the Pro models have the shape adjusted to hide the Apple logo, which looks odd.
