TL; DR
  • Microsoft unveiled the Surface Laptop Ultra at Computex 2026 as its most powerful Surface device ever.
  • It is powered by Nvidia’s RTX Spark chip, combining 20 Arm CPU cores, a Blackwell GPU with 6,144 CUDA cores
  • The laptop features up to 128GB of unified LPDDR5X memory delivering up to 300 GB/s bandwidth.

At Computex 2026, Microsoft and Nvidia did something that nobody was expecting, perhaps not even Intel and AMD. The Surface Laptop Ultra is Microsoft’s most powerful laptop ever. For the first time in the company’s history, it runs on Nvidia silicon. This is a genuine shift in the company’s strategy, and what a Windows laptop can be.

The announcement came out hours after Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang unveiled the RTX Spark platform at his Computex keynote. Microsoft was there on stage, and the Surface Laptop Ultra is positioned as a direct answer to Apple’s MacBook Pro.

Microsoft Surface Laptop Ultra: Pricing & Availability

Microsoft has not confirmed pricing or a specific launch date for the Surface Laptop Ultra. The laptop is arriving later in 2026, with final pricing and availability to be announced closer to launch.

No Indian pricing or release date has been announced so far. Given the ongoing global DRAM shortage and the 128GB unified memory configuration, pricing is widely expected to be significantly higher than the current Surface Laptop lineup.

Microsoft Surface Laptop Ultra: Key Features

First and foremost, the display is a 15-inch mini-LED PixelSense Ultra panel with a 2880 x 1920 resolution (262 ppi), with a claimed peak HDR brightness of 2,000 nits. That is a genuinely impressive specification for a laptop display, placing the Surface Laptop Ultra firmly in the creator and professional market.

However, the display isn’t the key highlight of the Surface Laptop Ultra. It’s the Nvidia RTX Spark chip at the heart of the laptop, which isn’t a conventional processor. It combines a 20-core Arm-based CPU with an Nvidia Blackwell GPU carrying 6,144 CUDA cores.

It also sports 128GB of unified LPDDR5X memory, dynamically shared between the CPU and GPU based on the workload, with up to 300 GB/s of memory bandwidth. At peak, the chip can reach 1 petaflop of AI compute, which is enough to run AI models with up to 120 billion parameters entirely on-device.

The chassis will be available in Platinum and Nightfall colorways, weighs under 4.5 pounds, and includes several connectivity options like HDMI, USB-C, USB-A, SD card reader, and a headphone jack.

Microsoft claims to offer all-day battery life, backed by a dual-fan cooling system for sustained performance. Gaming support has also been confirmed for select titles, including League of Legends, Valorant, PUBG, and Alan Wake 2, though broader compatibility depends on native Arm builds and Prism emulation.
