Qualcomm is set to launch its flagship chipset – Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC, earlier than last year at its Snapdragon Summit between October 24 and October 27. It seems like Xiaomi is persistent in being the first smartphone maker to debut flagship phones starring the chipset. Rumor has it that the Xiaomi 14 and 14 Pro announcement will be made on October 27, a day after Qualcomm’s event ends.

Xiaomi 14 & 14 Pro Set To Debut With Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 on October 27

Although it is not official yet, reports suggest Xiaomi will debut its next-gen Xiaomi 14 series on October 27. As said, it will be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC that automatically makes Xiaomi the first taker.

Xiaomi 13 and 14 Pro are successors to last year’s Xiaomi 13 and 13 Pro which made their debut in December 2022. Seems like the Chinese smartphone maker doesn’t want to delay the launch and instead, might opt for October 27, a day after Qualcomm’s event, to launch its next-gen flagship phones. Xiaomi will bank on local consumers during the time while the international launch will happen probably in a few month’s time as well. We say it might land internationally sometime in January 2024 although there are no official dates to back it up just yet.

Xiaomi 14 series may launch on Oct 27 with Snapdragon 8 Gen 3

As said, the new Xiaomi 14 series will bring a bunch of updates including a new design, MIUI 15-based on Android 14, Leica-tuned camera setup, among others. The Xiaomi 14 Pro will have satellite connectivity and titanium frame, both of which are becoming a norm in flagship phones. The phones have reportedly passed all certifications in China preparing for their launch which is allegedly two weeks from today.

Xiaomi 14 Pro Specifications (Expected)

Citing previous reports on Xiaomi 14 Pro specifications, we could say that it will have a 6.7” Micro Quad Curved 2K C8 display with an LTPO panel and a dynamic refresh rate of 1-120Hz. Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 sits on top. The display reportedly lights up at a peak of 3,000 nits which is phenomenally high.

On the performance side, we have a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC under the hood capitalising on its 24GB LPDDR5X RAM and up to 1TB UFS 4.0 storage. A 4,860mAh battery sits under the hood paired with 120W fast charging that recently received 3C certification. On the optics front, we have a 50MP primary Sony IMX989 shooter with OIS, a 50MP ultrawide, and a 50MP telemacro camera completing its rear triple camera setup.

As you might have already guessed, the vanilla Xiaomi 14 will have similar specifications leveled down slightly to its cadre since it will be a comparatively more affordable model than Xiaomi 14 Pro.
